MEMBERSHIP

I have a membership, but why am I getting billed?

The Fire Department needs your insurance information to submit a claim to your insurance carrier. At emergency scenes, we don’t always collect this information. Once you provide the insurance information, your membership will cover any out-of-pocket costs for qualifying emergency transports.

INSURANCE

How do I get my insurance information to you?

You may email a copy of the front and back of your insurance card (insert email) with your invoice – be sure to include your run number.

Why hasn’t my bill been sent to insurance?

Contact Customer Service at 866-592-4501 Monday through Friday, 8 am -8 p.m. EST to speak with a representative who can assist you.

OUTSTANDING BILLING QUESTIONS

Why did my insurance carrier deny the ambulance transport claim?

Review the Explanation of Benefits or Explanation of Payment you received from your insurance carrier. That document should explain the reason(s) the claim was denied. If you have additional questions, contact Customer Service at 866-592-4501 Monday through Friday, 8 am – 8 p.m. EST to speak with a representative who can assist you.

Why do I have to pay extra for mileage?

Medicare covers transportation to the closest medical facility. Being in the Kansas City Metro, with many healthcare systems, you might have requested transport beyond one system to your preferred hospital. The extra mileage beyond is billed to you.
